PSI serviced the port and stbd Mathers SB30 Shaftbrake calipers on the tug boat Taku Wind.  

Mathers Shaftbrake calipers are well designed and have a long service live if they are maintained correctly. If the brake is losing his holding power or oil starts to leak it is time for the next service.

PSI service technicians removed 8 Calipers and 2 hydraulic intensifiers from the Taku Wind. The parts where walnut shell blasted to remove rust and old paint for inspection prior to overhaul.

All metal parts where still in good conditions after 30 years of service. 2 broken bleeder noses had to be removed. All pads where worn out. The calipers where primed and painted. New SB30 brake pad service kits where installed. 

Shims were used to correct the gap between disk and brake pad.

New hydraulic hoses where installed to ensure leak free opperation.
